Timeless fine jewelry that defines elegant simplicity

The traditional birthstone of August is peridot and it really is a unique stone. Peridot is also the traditional stone for the 15th wedding anniversary. They range in colors from a pale, lime green to a deep true grass green (which are the most expensive) but the majority of them are in the yellowish-green color range. Peridot have been a treasured gemstone throughout history. Ancient Egyptians mined it from an island in the Red Sea and referred to it as ”the gem of the sun.” One of the things that makes them so unique is their source. Peridot is found in lava, meteorites and deep in the Earth’s mantle, making it one ancient stone!

Peridot has been found in lava flows in the US, China and Vietnam, in veinings in solidified molten rock and even in an extraterrestrial source – in meteorites that have fallen to Earth, some of which were large enough to cut into gemstones!

I have an August baby, so peridot has become a stone that I love. It’s green hues remind me of nature, rebirth and growth. And it looks great with Spring and Summer outfits – especially florals, as it brings out the green in floral patterns, which I am loving right now.
