May Birthstone: Emerald

Emeralds are ALL the rage this season! We are seeing green pop up all around us this Spring and we are here for it! Amongst all of the gorgeous, vivid floral prints, green is the perfect accent color and emeralds bring a vibrant green hue to jewelry. Personally, I’m loving emeralds in a whole new way this season. As I get more and more into wearing color, the soft green beauty of emerald is simply mesmerizing. And, it goes with so much more than you might think!

Love to geek out on gemstones, like us? Emerald is a variety of the beryl mineral and is colored green by chromium. The first known emerald mines were in Egypt and Cleopatra had a famous love for them. Signifying rebirth and new Spring growth, the green is both soft and deeply saturated at the same time. In the Bible, the emerald was one of the four precious stones given by God to King Solomon. Emerald is the birthstone for May and the gemstone for both the 20th and 35th wedding anniversaries.
