This past weekend, we packed up the littles and drove down to the City of Angels. Hubs had a work conference there and the boys and I were all to happy to tag along to a warm and sunny location like LA! I emailed a few friends in the area for recommendations on what we should do while we were there and Michaela, who I “met” when she featured my jewelry designs on her gorgeous blog, came through with an excellent brunch suggestion that I felt obliged to share with you. It’s just too good to keep to myself.
Bottega Louie is simply adorable. Not only is this spot darling, it is equally delicious. The market part of the restaurant reminds me of Laduree in Paris (a VERY favorite spot of mine!) and not only because of the stunningly beautiful macarons. There were lots of fun treats there that would make lovely hostess or birthday gifts or a delicious little bon bon for yourself. (more…)
You know that feeling when a musician sings words that your heart wasn’t even aware that it felt? When an artist is able to capture something that you thought might be too big or deep to even put into words and yet they do and they sing it and suddenly it is like a tuning fork is resonating deep within your soul, vibrating to this truth that you didn’t even realize you had been aching to express?
I’m sure you have. I think it is one of those things that is universally true for everyone at some time in their lives. It is an amazing thing and one that awakes your soul in its depths. By far, the artist who has most often created that experience for me is David Wilcox. He is, hands down, my favorite artist, both as a craftsman of words and a player of guitar. (more…)
Don’t miss the giveaway over on Michaela’s blog today! She is featuring our brushed gold vermeil quatrefoil necklace with a super cute outfit from Anthropologie and Apricot Lane. We absolutely adore the photos of the necklace that she took and also the fact that she has apparently worn it every day since she got it! Yay for happy customers! (more…)
Fashion weeks are fabulous and Austin’s is no exception. We were honored to be a featured designer at Austin Fashion Week 2011 – what a blast! So, when they called us to feature a pair of our Lucky earrings in green amethyst on their blog’s giveaway, we were thrilled to participate. The AFW blog is the place to go for all of the latest on the Texas fashion scene (and once in a while they feature a few cool designers from San Francisco who have Texas roots!) (more…)

One of the fabulous things about living in San Francisco (and there are many!) is that we are so close to the wine country. Sonoma is a quick 45-minute drive and Napa is just an hour away, making it really easy to drive up for the day. The landscape is beautiful, the shops adorable and the weather is usually warm and sunny, which is a nice break from the city fog in the Summer! There are more wineries than you can possible visit and more great food than is reasonable for anyone to eat and when you visit the wine country, even for a day, you feel like you’re on vacation – a million miles away from the city. It makes for a wonderful day trip or weekend getaway if you life in SF and a fabulous vacation destination if you don’t! (more…)
My dear friend, Paul Hotze, has always been a creative genius. He is not only one of the nicest guys you will ever meet, he’s also one of the funniest. His creativity literally knows no bounds – from his time at Second City in Chicago to the video he made announcing his departure for a solo motorcycle trip that he took from Houston down to South America. (Oh yes, he really did it. And the resulting stories were priceless.) (more…)
Without a doubt, when people come to visit me here in San Francisco, one of the very first places that I take them is to the Ferry Building. Even when we don’t have friends visiting, the farmers’ market there is one of our very favorite weekend activities. If you’re coming to SF, I highly recommend you carve out a few hours to visit it – it is well worth it! (more…)
If you haven’t been to Absinthe in San Francisco, you owe it a visit. It is delicious! I had some friends in town this past weekend and it was our Sunday night dinner spot. It is one of our favorites and did not disappoint this weekend. Absinthe is a darling French brassiere in Hayes Valley, where the ambiance is fabulous and the food delicious! (more…)
