Lavender and Gold

I stumbled upon Michaela Warner’s blog a year or so ago and was immediately drawn in by her lovely photos.  (Isn’t that one of the best parts of a good blog?  I think it is!)  She is starting out as an interior designer and has a fabulous sense of style and also knows how to work on a budget.  That’s a rare combination, but she’s got it!  I love, love, love perusing the photos on her blog and I’m usually inspired by them.  She has fabulous ideas for home design, closet style and party planning that I’m sure you’ll love.  I reached out to her after reading her blog for a while and we became fast friends.  As it turns out, we have a lot in common – it really is such a small world!  So, I asked her to do a guest blog post for me and here she is!

The Unsung Accessory

AM Paris Scarf

Here in San Francisco, I wear a scarf pretty much every day.  Even if I don’t leave the house wearing one, I always throw one in my bag.  The weather can vary SO much here from hour to hour – and from neighborhood to neighborhood.  If you’re going to be out for the day or are trekking around the city, you definitely need layers.  You never know what you’ll encounter out there and since it is such a walking city,  you’re bound to be out in the elements a lot.  I find a scarf really warms you up when you’re chilly and is easy to take off if you get too hot.  Plus, it is easy to stuff in your purse, which can’t be said for a coat!  I always take one with me when I travel as well.  They’re fantastic for the plane, a random chilly restaurant or a blustery day.  Scarves are one of my very favorite accessories! Jewelry Trends: What’s Right Now?

Earlier this week, I promised you an introduction to some of my friends who you absolutely need to know.  Today, the first introduction happens…

My friend Natalie loves fashion, though that isn’t how I met her.  Natalie and I worked together at a boutique energy consulting firm back in the day.  We hit it off the moment we met (although that might be because we were forced to sing a Brittney Spears song onstage together at a company meeting… but that’s a story for another day.)  She was always talking trends and making comments about what looks exceptionally good on people, etc.  (Don’t worry, she’s never snarky!)  Then, last year, Natalie quit the corporate life and started her own business. Natalie is an image consultant who helps people clear the clutter from their wardrobes, look great everyday, and project the best version of themselves.   (more…)

Something Old, Something New…

bouquet

Last week, we shared with you some ideas from our friends over at Simply Bridal.  Today, I wanted to share with you what I did for this fun, age old tradition.

When I got married, my something old was a platinum and diamond Art Deco style pin that was my grandmother’s.  She was not living when I married, having passed away just a few years before, but she was definitely one of the most influential people in my life growing up.  She had style and spunk and always, and I mean ALWAYS had a glimmer in her eye that made you wonder just what she was thinking.  People used to comment on that little sparkle well into her 90’s.   (more…)

Hair Tutorial

We are absolutely thrilled that an Andrea Montgomery necklace is featured in this fun hair tutorial post.  The always-stylish Michaela Warner was asked to do a hair tutorial on her fabulous waterfall braid for Rue Magazine’s daily inspiration, Rue Daily, which you can see by clicking on that link.  Her hair and outfit are so lovely and she has inspired us to try something new with our hairstyling (which, let’s admit, has been a daily ponytail as of late!)  Also, we are loving the pop of green in her top.  Emerald is Pantone’s color of the year for 2013 and it has been everywhere this Spring, adding a fresh breath of life all over town! The Great Gatsby

SapphireDiamondNecklace-9601

I truly love doing custom work.  My very favorite part of this business is the design aspect and it is very often the part I spend the least time doing.  Administrative tasks like customer emails, ordering materials, accounting, filing taxes, shipping orders, etc. take up way more of my time than I would like.  Even though I have an incredible assistant, those things still dominate.  So, when someone calls me with a custom design order, I get really excited to let the creative juices flow… (more…)

Brooks Brothers

RodeoDrive2-4

Walking on Rodeo Drive today, we were drawn into Brooks Brothers by their lovely window displays featuring the new The Great Gatsby movie.  I’m so excited to see it and was not disappointed by the lovely 20’s era vignettes around the store.  What a gorgeous display!  I was so drawn in by the details on everything – including the chandelier that featured shades monogrammed with “JG” on them.  What amazing attention to detail!  I was inspired by the flapper dresses and dapper men’s designs. Custom Bridal Designs

I’m currently working on several custom bridal and bridesmaid jewelry orders.  I absolutely LOVE this part of designing.  I love making something unique for the bride and her friends – something that will enhance their dresses, make them feel even more beautiful on the special day AND be something that the will actually wear again and again (unlike those dresses, beautiful as they may be!)  And each time they put that jewelry on, they’ll get to re-live their special day just a bit.  (more…)
