Make a Statement!

We are in the middle of rodeo season here in Houston and it has been so fun to see the fashion that goes with this fun time of year.  Today’s post is the third in our series of rodeo fashion posts.  There are so many ways to make your outfit cowgirl chic with just a few pieces of jewelry added to your outfit. You can add a pair of statement earrings, or embrace the layering trend with some dainty necklaces that work well together.  Or, you can go with a statement necklace, which is what we’re talking about today. Langford Market Trunk Show Photos

We had so much fun at Langford Market’s West Ave flagship location today!  They girls who work in there are absolutely adorable and are so, so sweet and helpful. You should definitely stop in and check the place out.  The decor and ambiance in the store offer a lovely aesthetic in which to shop and the clothes are really well-priced and offer on-trend colors and styles.  Their jewelry isn’t at all my style, but their clothes are really cute!  And maybe that’s why they asked me to come in and do a trunk show – to offer a slightly more dainty option.  The customers were all very kind and excited to try on a more dainty look and find some things to layer with items they already had.  A win-win! Spotted: Great Day Houston

We spotted a few Andrea Montgomery Designs pieces on Great Day Houston the other day!  Houston stylist Natalie Weakly of Signature Style was wearing them on her “Scarf-tastic” feature on the show.  We all know how much I love winter’s best accessory, and Natalie had some great ideas on tying scarves and on using them as outfit accessories.  While telling the Houston audience all of her tips and tricks on scarves, Natalie was wearing our matte gold vermeil large link bracelet AND our brushed gold vermeil peony necklace. Pantone Colors + Your Wardrobe

Yesterday, I wrote about the Pantone “Color of the Year” for 2014…the lovely radiant orchid.  Pantone has also release in its Fashion Color Report for Spring nine other colors in the palette that they have seen designers using for their Spring collections.  I really love the colors and am hoping to incorporate some more of these bright, breezy colors into my Spring wardrobe in a few pieces. Lavender and Gold

I stumbled upon Michaela Warner’s blog a year or so ago and was immediately drawn in by her lovely photos.  (Isn’t that one of the best parts of a good blog?  I think it is!)  She is starting out as an interior designer and has a fabulous sense of style and also knows how to work on a budget.  That’s a rare combination, but she’s got it!  I love, love, love perusing the photos on her blog and I’m usually inspired by them.  She has fabulous ideas for home design, closet style and party planning that I’m sure you’ll love.  I reached out to her after reading her blog for a while and we became fast friends.  As it turns out, we have a lot in common – it really is such a small world!  So, I asked her to do a guest blog post for me and here she is!

Hair Tutorial

We are absolutely thrilled that an Andrea Montgomery necklace is featured in this fun hair tutorial post.  The always-stylish Michaela Warner was asked to do a hair tutorial on her fabulous waterfall braid for Rue Magazine’s daily inspiration, Rue Daily, which you can see by clicking on that link.  Her hair and outfit are so lovely and she has inspired us to try something new with our hairstyling (which, let’s admit, has been a daily ponytail as of late!)  Also, we are loving the pop of green in her top.  Emerald is Pantone’s color of the year for 2013 and it has been everywhere this Spring, adding a fresh breath of life all over town! The Great Gatsby

I truly love doing custom work.  My very favorite part of this business is the design aspect and it is very often the part I spend the least time doing.  Administrative tasks like customer emails, ordering materials, accounting, filing taxes, shipping orders, etc. take up way more of my time than I would like.  Even though I have an incredible assistant, those things still dominate.  So, when someone calls me with a custom design order, I get really excited to let the creative juices flow… (more…)
