Graduation Day

Phelan Building

Today was Graduation Day!  For the past two months, I’ve been attending the Jewelry Technician Intensive class at the Revere Academy for Jewelry Arts here in San Francisco.  It was a great experience and I learned so much.  We had instruction in casting, fabrication, chains, polishing & finishing, repair, trade practices and over 30 types of stone settings.  To say that the name “intensive” was accurate is a huge understatement!  Nineteen students took the class, some having moved here for the 8 week course from Germany, Mexico and the Philippines.  Keep an eye out for the designs to come from this group – they were amazing!  (more…)

Tonight, Andrea Montgomery Designs participated in the Shecky’s San Francisco Girls Night Out event at Hearbst Pavillion in Fort Mason.  I was a vendor at the original Shecky’s Girls Night Out in New York MANY years ago and have since participated in Houston and Dallas and shopped the one in Miami!  Shecky’s always puts on great events and this one was no exception.  (more…)

pink ribbon necklace 2009

Well, gals – it’s pink ribbon time!  October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and we’d like to invite you to join us in making a difference in the fight against cancer.  One hundred percent of the net proceeds from the sales of our 2009 Pink Ribbon necklace will be donated to the Stehlin Foundation for Cancer Research to help support the clinical trials of their promising anti-cancer drug, CZ48.  If you’ve never heard of Stehlin (or CZ48), you should definitely check them out.  This small organization of dedicated people in Houston, Texas is making a BIG difference in the fight against cancer.  Check out their website for more information – www.stehlin.org – and feel free to call them up for a tour of their research lab – you’ll learn a ton and they’d be thrilled to show you around!

First of Fall

St. Francis Episcopal Church in Houston, Texas officially kicked off the holiday season with their first annual “First of Fall” market.  What a market it was!  (Note to all of you Houston gals out there – when Vanessa Sendukas is in charge of an event, get yourself there – it’s gonna be fab!)

The market kicked off today and it is truly top-notch.  The decor and layout is wonderful and the vendors are amazing!  It’s truly the best of the Nutcracker Market without the entrance fee or parking hassle!  (Not that we don’t adore the Nutcracker Market – because we do – those caramel apples alone are worth it!)

We’re having a blast at this show and know you will, too!  If you can’t make it out, here are a few photos for you…

Andrea Montgomery Goes Hollywood!

pink ribbon necklace 2009

Our 2009 Pink Ribbon Necklace was just selected to be in the gift bags for the Hollywood “What a Pair” event benefiting breast cancer research – so exciting!

Pack your bags, we’re going to Hollywood!  Well, our jewelry designs are, anyway.  Each year, we do a “pink ribbon” necklace that benefits a different cancer charity.  This year’s necklace is my favorite yet – it’s delicate and is a classy, understated way to support an important cause.  I’ve had many friends and a family member who have battled breast cancer, so it’s a cause that is near to my heart.  This year, it’s especially close as one of my dearest friends is in the midst of her battle with this dreadful disease right now (and she’s doing wonderfully, thank the Lord!)
